Scleral Lens Care Guide

Simple steps to keep your lenses clean, comfortable, and performing their best.

Inserting Your Lenses

Getting them in
  • 1Wash & dry hands thoroughly. Work over a clean, flat surface and plug the sink drain.
  • 2Fill the lens bowl completely with sterile saline (Lacripure, ScleralFil, or Nutrifill) before picking up.
  • 3Place the filled lens on the silicone inserter and insert as shown at your fitting.
  • 4Always start with the same lens first each time.

Removing Your Lenses

Taking them out
  • 1Wash & dry hands before touching your lenses or eyes.
  • 2Work over a clean flat surface with the drain plugged.
  • 3Use the removal applicator as demonstrated — gently break the seal and lift the lens away.
  • 4Remove the same lens first every time.

Cleaning & Storing

After each wear
  • 1Clean with ClearCare (peroxide) — soak for 6 hours minimum to neutralize.
  • 2Alternatively, rub with Boston Simplus and soak overnight in fresh solution.
  • 3Never reuse or top off solution — always use a fresh fill each cycle.
  • 4Clean and air-dry case and applicators. Replace every 3 months.

Products You’ll Need

CleanClearCare or Boston Simplus — cleaning and overnight storage. Available at Target, CVS, Costco, or dryeyerescue.com.
FillSterile saline vials (Lacripure, ScleralFil, or Nutrifill) — for rinsing and filling the lens bowl. Single-use only.
ReliefPreservative-free artificial tears for added comfort while lenses are in.
ToolsSilicone inserter + removal applicator — provided at your fitting. Clean after every use; replace every 3 months.

Important Warnings & Tips

🚫Never rinse with ClearCare directly — it causes serious pain before neutralization.
ClearCare requires 6 hours to neutralize. Can’t wait? Use Boston Simplus instead.
🔴Boston “Advanced” (red cap) is for cleaning only — not for rinsing or eye contact.
💧Rinse only with sterile saline before insertion — never tap water or multipurpose solution.
📞Redness, pain, or sudden blur — remove lenses immediately and contact our office.
